Introduction
We all identify goals to improve ourselves in some way. Even at this moment, every one of us has a certain goal in mind. The same is true for businesses; any company that wishes to expand should continuously establish and achieve new and more ambitious goals. At Indeema Software we set a goal for ourselves in early 2021 to create an environment where our team desires to work, create, develop and simply enjoy their workplace.
Ultimately, people are happiest and produce high-quality work when they are in a comfortable environment. The atmosphere of an office plays a significant role in determining the attitudes of the workers.
“At Indeema, we created a workspace with people in mind, and we believe that our work and relaxation areas provide the ideal starting point for employees to create a healthier, happier, and more productive workplace," says Yaroslav Rybii, Co-Founder of Indeema Software.
So, this is what this article is about. About Indeema’s Office Space. However, we also wanted to show our current and prospective clients who, how, and where their projects are being worked on.
Where it all started...
We will tell you a short story in order to get you to know about our workspace. We moved to new premises at the start of the summer of 2021, and a lot has changed since then.
To begin with, most of our specialists now work in an open-office space, whereas previously, each team had its own room. To be honest, we were worried that it would be too loud and noisy, but there is no such problem because everyone is loyal and respectful of others' work. Thank heavens. It has even benefited us; now all departments and teams are more cohesive due to everyday communication. It is also easier for newcomers to adapt because they see all employees daily.
Secondly, we began to grow qualitatively rather than quantitatively. As a result, the company has started improving certain work processes and changing its approach to solving organizational issues. We realized that people should participate as much as possible in the life and plans of the company. That's why, our designers created the entire design and every logo in the office, bringing a piece of our team into this working space.
Let's take a quick tour of Indeema's office and see what's inside!
As mentioned earlier, as soon as we enter the office, we are greeted by a large open space and large pan-frame windows that brighten the space.
When it comes to personal space, everyone has their boundaries. But even if you and your coworkers are like one big happy family, having a separate working space is essential to feel comfortable and safe. We spend 40 hours a week or more at work, so the personal working area should be as comfortable as possible. We found that having the ability to put elbows on the desk is a crucial factor for most of us. For this reason, we have corner office desks, which add more privacy and form a "private bubble" around each team member. Of course, we didn't forget about the office chairs, which are on wheels and have headrests to make sitting more comfortable.
But let's get back to our tour. Separate glazed rooms for the Recruiters, Accountants, and Sales departments, as well as Chiefs' office, are located around the perimeter.
In addition, there are four meeting rooms, several relaxation areas in the office, as well as a Game Room where we keep our free corporate library and a PlayStation game console. As you can see, there are almost no walls, which gives the impression of openness and freedom. People may generate amazing ideas and produce high-quality work when they are given the freedom to do so in the office.
But the inner sanctum in our working space is an Admin room since servers are the technical lifeblood of any tech company. It is a place where all the servers and other computer equipment can operate safely in one location, facilitating networking and other activities. The comfortable working place was designed specifically for DevOps Engineers and System Administrators, as it's critical to ensure that all of an organization's servers are performing as expected. As a result, our specialists can keep an eye on the server's speed and responsiveness, as well as the user load, and anticipate any issues that may arise. It's all monitored in real-time.
Another significant detail we have not mentioned yet is parking: both underground and surface parking is available right beneath the office building. Of course, there is bicycle parking to support our employees' healthy lifestyles. To put it another way, drivers are satisfied. And as soon as we walk into the office building, we are greeted by a lavish lobby.
All people at Indeema are treated with respect. To ensure that, our building and office premises have INCLUSIVE design. It means that anyone – from people with physical disabilities to pregnant women and older people – can access all areas of a workplace, use the equipment, and fully function in an office with inclusive design. From the moment you enter the building, there are no thresholds or obstacles, elevators are large enough, and each floor has an inclusive restroom. In this way, we strive to promote concepts such as equal access and diversity in the workplace.
So, we saw almost every important part of Indeema's office, except for our favorite one - Indeema PUB.
Come on in, the bar's open!
Because of its simple but cozy design, bar counter, and, most importantly, the concept, Indeema PUB has become a local landmark. No, it's not the idea of drinking alcohol 24 hours a day, as you might assume. The concept is to create a place that brings everyone together. Whether it's morning coffee before your team's meeting or get-togethers on Friday does not matter.
“Our Pub is my favorite place at work; I always go out for coffee and meet someone there, catch up on the latest news, crack jokes, and return to work in a great mood. But above all, I love our sign on the wall, since I remember how Taras, our designer, was drawing a layout on paper while we were debating which font to use, and now it hangs in front of me. This is an excellent example of how our ideas are embodied in a real-life.”- says Mariana Shevchyk, Head of the HR department at Indeema Software.
Happy employees mean happy customers
The office's atmosphere cannot be conveyed in words, it must be felt. Therefore, we are always pleased to welcome our customers and other guests. When it comes to our clients and partners, we have one more feature in the office: meeting rooms.
In fact, such rooms are typically named simply after cities or countries, or they are numbered, or distinguished solely by color.
Our meeting rooms, unlike the others, are named after companies with whom we've worked for many years. As an example, one of the meeting rooms - Solar Manager - is completely designed in the client's style. A team that has been working on this project for more than three years now gathers in this room each day for a call with a customer and other stakeholders. This increases the team's motivation and spirit, so they see how each one's work comes to life.
Another feature of Indeema's office is the use of our own product, UBreez, to monitor air quality. Numerous studies have shown how poor indoor air quality affects our health. It can be caused by ventilation issues in the office, for example. Our space has adequate ventilation because we designed the office environment so that each work area has properly operating supply and exhaust vents. However, the UBreez box with its sensors allows us to detect air filter contamination and replace them in a timely manner. Furthermore, thanks to UBreez, we can efficiently organize the supply and discharge of air from all corners of the office, including the tiniest rooms like the server room. It helps us to keep the office air, as well as people's minds fresh.
Conclusion
Over the last 14 years, we have been steadily growing and developing, and our programmers are constantly learning and integrate new technologies into the projects. Customers are often looking for accountability for completed work and a guarantee of quality.
Therefore, while developing complex software, it is critical for a developer to have a comfortable working environment and a positive atmosphere, as this will directly affect his productivity and motivation. This is how everything in the IT world is linked.
