From connected devices to Cognitive IoT

Connectivity was where we started. Decisions are where products are going

For most of Indeema's history the work has been making products connected and observable: devices that report their state reliably, cloud services that keep up, and applications that make the data useful.

Cognitive IoT is our name for the next step: products that interpret context, adapt their behaviour and, within limits a person sets, decide. We engineer that step deliberately, one decision at a time, with fallback and human oversight designed in. Most products we have built sit early on that path, and the case studies say so.

How Indeema developed

A software company that went down into the hardware

The milestones that explain today's capabilities. Each is dated from Indeema's own announcements.

  1. Before 2010

    Roots in PLLUG

    Students and university professors in Lviv formed PLLUG, an IT education community that ran courses in embedded engineering, mobile and web development and QA. Indeema's story starts there.

  2. September 2010

    Indeema founded

    Founded by Ukrainian co-founders as a software development company.

  3. 2015

    An IoT and IIoT division

    A dedicated division for IoT and industrial IoT engineering, R&D and MVP development: the start of the move from software into connected products.

  4. 2018

    Our own connected product

    UBreez, an indoor air-quality product built end to end by Indeema: the device, the cloud service and the mobile apps.

  5. 2022

    Avnet IoT partner programme

    Joined Avnet's IoT partner programme and began building connected-product demonstrations on Avnet /IOTCONNECT.

  6. October 2022

    An IoT laboratory at the university

    Opened an IoT laboratory with Vakoms at the Department of Radiophysics and Computer Technologies of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

  7. June 2024

    Microchip Connectivity Framework

    Announced a collaboration with Microchip on implementing its Connectivity Framework across cloud, firmware and middleware for secure device connectivity.

  8. September 2024

    R&D office in Wrocław

    Opened an R&D office in Wrocław, Poland, including a space for testing devices and evaluating hardware and firmware.

  9. June 2025

    Drone-to-cloud platform shown

    Demonstrated a drone-to-cloud connectivity platform, built on Avnet /IOTCONNECT and AWS, at an AWS and Avnet executive forum.

  10. September 2025

    Merger with Vakoms

    Indeema and Vakoms merged under the Indeema brand, combining embedded, hardware, software and AI engineering teams, including drone work.

  11. October 2025

    Perfsol acquisition

    Acquired Perfsol to extend Indeema's engineering further into artificial intelligence and edge AI.

  12. Today

    Cognitive IoT

    One engineering organization for intelligent connected products: electronics, embedded software, connectivity, cloud, applications and AI.

Engineering happens in two places, Lviv and Wrocław. The US office represents Indeema Inc. and is not an engineering site.

    Indeema maintains an AWS Partner relationship and uses AWS technologies in connected-product architectures.

    AWS IoT Core was used in the June 2025 drone-to-cloud demonstration presented at an AWS and Avnet executive forum.

Indeema began in an education community and still invests in one: the IoT laboratory at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, an annual IoT Challenge for student engineering teams, and intensive Indeema Teaches programmes in embedded and hardware engineering.
